An 11km lap of Richmond Park takes in the low traffic roads around the perimeter of the historic royal hunting ground. We’ll all ride together and regroup at the top of any climbs. As we’re riding laps, you can ride as many or as few as you like before heading for the café.
Also setting off through Richmond Park, we’ll ride through Bushey Park and along the River Thames to Surrey Heath. After a climb through Chobham Common, lined with vibrant yellow gorse flowers, we’ll take in the picturesque Shepperton Lock before joining everyone at the café.
Evening Event (London) - 6th June
Location: London
Venue: VIA Atelier, Coal Drops Yard
Time: 6:30pm
Date: 6th June 2024
Cost: £30
Booking link: https://endurancecui.active.com/new/events/90568016/select-race
In June we are returning to VIA Atelier for another evening of networking with a cycling tilt. For those of you who joined us for the season launch you will know what a fantastic cycling venue VIA is. So, we are very excited to return in the summer, when hopefully we’ll have the doors open and be basking in the late evening sun, whilst sharing a few drinks with friends, colleagues and new business acquaintances.
On the bill we have Matthew Falconer, an ultra-cyclist, who is preparing to ride the Transcontinental Race in July. The self-supported bike packing race starts in Roubaix, France and travels through Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Kosovo before finally finishing in Istanbul, Turkey. If that wasn't enough, racers have to research, plan and navigate their own routes. Matthew, a 'normal guy' doing extraordinary things, has already ridden the race five times before, the first one in 2016. He will share his stories of adventure, self-reliance, logistics, navigation and judgement whilst racing over 4000km.
Following Matthew we will hear from Professor Robert Thomas, a full-time NHS Consultant Oncologist and teacher at Cambridge University. As a keen cyclist himself Robert will be sharing some of his expert knowledge around nutrition and how to prepare for a ride and improve performance, and also why exercise and specifically cycling have great health benefits as well as addressing the actual (and mythical) risks of prolonged time spend in the saddle, for example osteoporosis and prostate cancer, and how to mitigate against them.

If you thought Tavira was BDOVELO's only overseas trip this year, you'd be wrong. Join us for a voyage over The Solent to ride the iconic loop around the Isle of Wight. Something every cyclist should do at least once and a wonderful way to experience all that the island has to offer. Stunning coastal views, quiet roads, rolling countryside and endless beaches.
After meeting at Portsmouth Harbour and taking the fastcat over the water, we'll disembark at Ryde and pedal along the UK's oldest pier to start our adventure. From there, we'll make our way to Bembridge Harbour and tackle the island's biggest hills before stopping for lunch at The Wight Mouse Inn, sitting out in their glorious garden, if the weather allows. Setting off once again, we head along the south coast on the Military Road with it's incredible views over to Tennyson Down and The Needles. At Yarmouth, we'll ride along the beach, then take the floating bridge at Cowes, before winding our way back to Ryde and a quick hop back to the mainland to finish our travels.
Places are limited so RSVP early to avoid disappointment.
Ride 5: Tracks & trails
Location: Surrey
Venue: The Cricketers on the Green, Pirbright, Woking GU24 0JT
Time: 2:00pm
Date: *Postponed until further notice
Cost: £75

Taking in a mixture of byways, bridleways, fire roads and quiet country lanes, the route (c.27 miles) is non-technical and suitable for gravel and mountain bikes, as well as those dabbling with ‘gravel’ for the first time.
After gathering at The Yurt Cafe, in the grounds of the Cricketers on the Green pub, we’ll explore the abundance of hero gravel in Swinley Forest and climb up to Caesar's Camp, site of a 2400 year old Iron Age hill fort. Then we’ll finish off the day back at the pub with food and refreshments overlooking the village green; the perfect opportunity for an afternoon of networking.
Social Ride: Richmond Park Laps
Location: Richmond Park
Venue: Roehampton Gate Car Park
Time: 09:30am
Date: 16th August 2024
Cost: £10
Booking link: https://endurancecui.active.com/new/events/92181012/select-race
With low traffic roads, it's the perfect venue to network on the bike, and you can be back at your desk by lunchtime.
An 11km lap of Richmond Park takes in the perimeter of the historic royal hunting ground, but there are plenty of opportunities to mix things up within the park. We'll be riding in groups of up to eight for around 90 minutes with plenty of opportunity to switch groups before heading to the cafe for refreshments and further networking.
The cost is just £10 to register - a contribution to coffee, cake and the support vehicle - so this is another great opportunity to come and meet the BDOVELO group and introduce yourself, invite your key contacts, and hopefully meet and connect with new contacts who you could do business with in the future.
Ride 6: Road Surrey / South Downs
Location: Surrey / South Downs
Venue: Cranleigh Golf and Country Club
Time: 10:00am
Date: 13th September 2024
Cost: £75

The base for the ride is Cranleigh Golf and Country Club at the foot of the well-known Barhatch Lane climb in the Surrey Hills. Riders will be grateful we are not heading straight up it but instead we'll ride south west to the stunning South Downs National Park. We'll pass idyllic villages, picturesque country inns and take in plenty of quiet country lanes and bucolic scenery. The 40 mile route is rolling, with a couple of short punchy climbs to test the legs (1340 feet of elevation). Perfect terrain for networking.
The ride will be led by experienced ride captains, so it doesn’t matter if you’re a novice or a pro, no one gets left behind!
Back at Cranleigh Golf Club we’ll have access to the changing facilities before enjoying a two course meal in the clubhouse restaurant - a chance to debrief on the ride and network with the group.
