As the season continues to unfold, we recently hosted an evening at the CycleFit store in Bloomsbury, London.
Guests were treated to an introduction to the team's new bike the Landrace Tupelo and an intimate look behind the scenes of one of the country’s leading bike fit specialists.
Phil and Julian founded Cyclefit back in 2002; having been involved in the design of thousands of bikes, and with many satisfied clients, they are undoubtedly masters of the craft. They are also great friends and supporters of BDOVELO, so we were extremely grateful to them for hosting us at their studios.
First on the agenda was the new Landrace Tupelo with its tagline: a bike created for normal folk to enjoy extraordinary adventures. Phil and Julian walked us through the nuances of designing bikes, and specifically this bike, which is designed with the main purpose of fitting the rider, whoever that may be.
We then headed down into the belly of the shop, where the magic happens and the fitting takes place. It was fascinating to see some of the theory and the work that went into fitting our two ride captains, Nat and Felix, with their Landrace Tupelos; two very different body shapes, levels of flexibility and, believe it or not, symmetry.
Julian then brought up some of the videos of Team EF Education-EasyPost riders and shared some trade secrets, lifting the lid on the detail that goes into a cyclefit for the pros.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable and enlightening evening, and one we hope to repeat in the future.
