Accountancy and business advisory firm, BDO has announced the promotion of 128 people across its team in the South East, including four promotions to partner.
Effective from 1 November, Neville Side has been promoted in the Business Restructuring team. He is joined by Owen Pettifor and Paula Willock, who have been promoted to partner in the firm’s Audit practice, together with Kamal Kataria in the Tax team.
Having joined the firm following the merger with Moore Stephens in 2019, Neville leads the Business Restructuring team in BDO’s Gatwick office. Neville works alongside corporates and their financial stakeholders in formulating strategies to support businesses in making the right decisions during times of financial distress. As part of his promotion, Neville will continue to drive growth of the firm’s Restructuring, Advisory and Insolvency services (RAIN) in both London and the South East region.
Owen, who has been with the firm for four years, brings his significant audit and assurance experience gained from working with a combination of public companies, private equity-backed and private companies in a number of different industry sectors, including an expertise in Technology & Media which he will now lead for BDO across the South East.
Having joined the firm in 2010, Paula has been promoted to audit partner in the firm’s market-leading Not for Profit team. She specialises in the Higher Education and Social Housing markets, working with a range of medium to large organisations in both sectors.
Kamal joined BDO in 2007 and will take a national lead in establishing best practice for the delivery of all Indirect Tax technology implementation and transformation projects, as well as the delivery of global Indirect Tax compliance. Kamal is also a member of BDO’s global Indirect Tax Centre of Excellence leading on our technology strategy and chair of our APAC (Asia Pacific) Indirect Tax subgroup.
Phil Cliftlands, Regional Managing Partner in the South East, commented: “Each of our new partners bring a huge amount of knowledge and expertise to several core areas of the business, with significant scope for further growth as we look to develop our regional offering in the next five to 10 years. Each one should be incredibly proud of their achievements.
“We will be adding a greater number of specialist partners to help us achieve our plans to continue to grow responsibly, whilst maintaining our market leading position.
In the South East, BDO has promoted 128 people across its Guildford and Gatwick offices, including 94 in its audit practice.
Cliftlands added: “Every promotion represents BDO’s commitment to investing in our people and the future of our business in the region and nationwide, and we’re delighted to reward those people who have demonstrated true commitment, dedication and passion in their chosen specialisms.”
