Alex Mackay

Alex leads BDO’s Life Sciences M&A team and has extensive experience of advising business owners, investors and corporates.  As a corporate finance specialist, he advises on company sales, acquisitions and fundraising activities in the UK and internationally.  His focus spans pharmaceutical and pharmaceutical services, medical technology and medical technology services, laboratories and multi-site private clinics. 

Specifically, he has advised on transactions covering generics and speciality products, medtech, diagnostics, regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, medical communications, market access, health economics, quality assurance, medical and pharma laboratories, and healthcare clinics.

Alex previously worked within the M&A team of a FTSE 100 business focused on acquisitions, divestments and minority investments into companies ranging from start-ups to multinationals, giving him a distinctive insight into the perspective of an acquirer. He is passionate about using his experience and relationships to support clients in the Life Sciences sector to realise their growth strategies and achieve the optimal outcome from a transaction.
