Dan Brookes

Dan leads the provision of tax services to BDO's large corporate and international clients in Yorkshire and the North East. In addition, he has overall responsibility across Yorkshire and the North East for the development of the services of BDO with businesses operating internationally.

Dan works closely with the BDO International network. As part of this role he hosts a number of events throughout the year to assist Yorkshire businesses. These range from tax specific events attended by some of the largest corporate businesses in Yorkshire to commercially focused events considering expansion and operation in some key overseas markets. Events include partners from UKT&I and the banking community on operating in the US, Germany and India.

He works extensively with in-house tax teams in Yorkshire and the North East. These include UK listed businesses, global multinational inbounds (mainly US) and privately owned businesses. Dan chairs a quarterly forum targeted at this population. His objective is to keep businesses in the region appraised of current developments which are relevant to their business. Many of the businesses he works with operate in an increasing number of territories and aiding there understanding of overseas markets from a commercial and tax perspective is a key element of his role. Companies also need to be aware of the changing international tax environment and the impact of the BEPS action plan over the coming years.
