Sam Cornish

I am a Director in BDO's Financial Services Internal Audit team based in London. For almost 20 years, I have been working in, and providing audit services to, a variety of clients in the banking and asset management industries. I help clients by providing out-sourced Internal Audit assurance, specialist co-sourced internal audit skills, and transforming internal audit departments to be fit for the future.

Prior to joining BDO in 2022, I spent almost 4 years at Protiviti as their lead FS IA Director in the UK. I was the Director for two out-sourced internal audit functions, spear-heading the delivery of the annual audit plan, reporting to audit committees and ensuring that the team to appropriately staffed to deliver aligned assurance.

Between 2017 and 2019, I worked as the Head of Operations for the Internal Audit department at RBS. As Head of Operations I helped to shape the global strategy of the IA department, and was responsible for ensuring the smooth day to day running of a global IA function of 500 FTE. Leading a multidisciplinary operations support team of 9 across two locations and delivering on a portfolio of requirements to ensure that all IT, people, internal control and cost reporting deliverables were met.
