Tim House was appointed COO of BDO’s Sustainability/ESG Advisory practice in September 2022 having previously been Global Partner for Sustainability/ESG at Internal Consulting Group (ICG). He is responsible for driving comprehensive sustainability-thinking and ESG expertise across BDO’s Advisory service streams, with the purpose of strengthening the competitiveness of our clients’ business models, long-term value proposition, and positive real-world environmental and social impact. His approach is informed by specialist knowledge of the principal frameworks available for ESG disclosure and reporting, the critical performance indicators that investors, markets and other key stakeholders use to measure environmental, social and human capital performance, and the leadership and governance imperatives that underscore the best-in-class business strategies and operations.
Tim’s strong belief about the systemic sustainability crisis we face, and the urgent requirement to act, has been informed by his personal experiences on the front line of climate-driven disasters and global conflicts. From 2007- 09 he led the team that successfully deployed the UN’s 19,000-strong peacekeeping force to Darfur as part of the global response to stop the genocide in western Sudan; a conflict that was fuelled, in part, by the desertification of the Sahara and which still affects us today as thousands of people continue to migrate to the UK from that and other uninhabitable regions of the world. Later, he was a member of the United Nations Headquarters team in New York that ran the UN’s 13 global peacekeeping operations. He has also served as a senior officer in the British army and undertook multiple operational deployments around the world.
