Caroline Hagmann
International institutions and donor organisations and projects they fund rely on us for assurance, advisory and project management solutions. Our extensive portfolio of clients includes multilateral agencies, local and national government agencies, development banks, bilateral donors, grant-giving bodies, NGOs and charitable foundations and trusts.
They appreciate and value our deep and pervasive knowledge of both international programming and the development community that has been built up over 40 years of practice.
Our clients also recognise the resources and reach we can bring to support their work. We have 400 individuals working from our headquarters in London and from 10 dedicated regional hubs across Africa, the Middle East and the Global South. We draw on the experience and resources of BDO’s wider international network which operates in more than 160 countries. Our team in London is BDO’s global Centre of Excellence for the delivery of international donor assignments.
English is the working language shared by all our staff and consultants. However, our staff speak over 90 languages and dialects, from Albanian to Zulu. The nature of our work demands that we work in many languages. We frequently report in and interpret a range of languages and our technical and support teams are structured to meet the linguistic needs of our clients.
Most of our staff are qualified chartered accountants. However, we also have staff with a broad range of skills including certified fraud examiners, certified internal auditors, certified governance and risk experts, value for money assessors, safeguarding experts and a team of trainers. Our experts usually come from an international development or humanitarian background and all have a demonstrable interest in the sector.
We can mobilise high quality expert teams at short notice to any location. We work where our clients need us.
Our clients need us, performing over 4,839 assignments in over 177 countries each year, including in fragile, conflict and post-conflict states, for both donors and recipients.
We also work with recipients of donor funds by helping them build financial capacities, implement programmes and demonstrate adherence to donor regulations.
