BDO has advised the shareholders of The Orange Square Company on the sale of the business to BlackRock backed Fontaine Group.
The Orange Square Company is the UK’s exclusive distributor of Creed Fragrances, Maison Francis Kurkdjian and a number of other luxury perfume brands across the UK and Europe.
BlackRock acquired the Creed brand in February 2020, and was keen to acquire The Orange Square Company as one of its largest global distributors.
Laura McNaughton, Partner at BDO LLP who led the transaction for the shareholders commented:
“We are delighted to have advised on the sale of The Orange Square Company, one of the leading premium fragrance distributors in the UK. The shareholders had real passion and unique expertise within the industry, and this transaction clearly signifies an exciting future for the Creed brand globally, both in terms of potential growth for the brand itself and also re-establishing its credentials within the luxury lifestyle industry. We are excited to see what the next chapter holds for the Creed brand globally.”
Chris Hawksley, Managing Director of The Orange Square company commented:
“I have nothing but praise for the way BDO handled the sale of my business. Laura and her team were incredibly supportive, clearly explaining the process at every stage and communicating their strategy and my options as negotiations progressed.
They were unfailingly patient, good humoured and gave the impression they had all the time in the world to address any concerns or answer any questions I had. I never felt I was under pressure to agree with something I was not happy with."
