BDO appoints Jill Halford as National Head of Not for Profit

Jill, an audit partner and national head of charities, joined the firm three and a half years ago. She will be replacing Phil Cliftlands, who will be taking on the role of regional managing partner for BDO’s offices in the South East.

Jill has led the Charity assurance and advisory team since joining BDO over three years ago. She has spent over 20 years working with the sector and has significant experience of working with highly complex Not for Profit organisations.

Jill’s new role will see her build on the firm’s existing position as the leading auditor and advisor to the UK’s top 200 charities and housing associations, as well as higher education organisations.

BDO provides the full range of internal and external audit, tax, corporate finance, business restructuring and advisory services to a growing number of the UK’s largest not for profit organisations across the UK.

Jill Halford commented on her appointment:

“I’m delighted to be taking on this role at such an exciting time and look forward to taking the firm through the next phase of development. We have had great success over the past five years under Phil’s leadership and I plan to continue delivering this with the same enthusiasm and dedication, in addition to continuing my work in the charities sector.

“BDO’s dedicated audit and advisory team is what sets us apart from other firms and we want to bring the best of BDO to our clients in order to help them succeed. We have a great team, with a strong passion for the sector and the fantastic people that work within it.

“The fact that BDO’s core purpose and firm values link so well with the wider public benefit of our clients means a lot to me. Being able to marry my personal values, and that of the firm’s, with the clients that I serve and knowing that we are making a real difference to society is why I come to work every day.”

In partnership with Getting on Board, Jill recently set up BDO’s ‘Trustee Network’, which has been shortlisted for the Employee Engagement Initiative of the Year in the Business Charity awards.
