BDO promotes 30 new partners and 2,300 people

Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP has promoted 30 new partners and nearly 2,300 people - almost a third of the entire firm - across its audit, tax, advisory and operational teams.

Effective from 1 November 2023, the partner promotions follow the appointment of 19 new external partners since January, taking BDO’s partnership to more than 450.

Fourteen people have been promoted to partner in BDO’s audit practice: Andrew Barclay, Jessica Darke, Gurpreet Dulay, Thirushen Govender, Sakib Isa, Dan Laird, Sam Lifford, Jill MacRae, Lucy Mistry, Steve Newberry, Neel Shastri, Nicola Small, Alex Stansbury and Eran Wieder.

Daisy Boughtflower, Martin Callaghan, Vincent Walker and Catherine Whitelam have all been promoted to partner in BDO’s tax team.

BDO’s advisory team has 11 new partners, across its business restructuring, business services & outsourcing, forensic accounting services, and M&A teams. James Adams, Rosie Barnes, James Fieldhouse, Paul Gilbert, Clare Hawthorn, Kiri Holland, Sasha Molodtsov, Brian O’Connell, Amar Patel, Mark Spencer and John Strowger have all received promotions.

Dan Francis in BDO’s IT, Digital and Innovation team has also been promoted to partner.

As a group, the new partners have significant experience across a wide range of sectors, including financial services, consumer markets, technology, media & telecommunications, and natural resources, energy, and renewables.

Over a third (36.6%) of the partner promotions are in regions outside of London, and over two fifths (43%) sit within the firm’s audit practice.

In addition to the partner promotions, BDO has promoted more than 1,200 people in its audit practice, 560 in advisory, over 330 in its tax team and a further 164 across its support functions. Just under half of the promotions fall in the regions outside of London.

Paul Eagland, Managing Partner at BDO, commented:

“Recognising the talent and efforts of our people and celebrating success is incredibly important to us, and I want to extend my congratulations to every person within the firm who has been promoted.

“Each of our 30 new partners should be commended on their commitment to supporting the businesses we work with, finding solutions to challenges and driving the growth of BDO.
During a time when UK businesses are facing numerous complex challenges, they have demonstrated excellent leadership skills.

“Becoming a partner is a rigorous but rewarding process and our new partners should be incredibly proud of this achievement.”
